Professional Biography:

Mrs. Butcher began her career in education as an FMD Teacher in a self-contained classroom. After obtaining her teaching certification in 2002, she then proceeded to work in special education at Williamsburg Independent from August 2002 to July of 2003.

The next school year, she worked as a 2nd and 3rd grade collaborative/resource Teacher and pre-school case manager in the Whitley County school district. In 2005, Mrs. Butcher became an academic assessor. With Mrs. Butcher’s experience, she was also granted the title of Special Education Program Facilitator. Within this position, she was the leader of the Autism Cadre, oversaw the Alternate Assessment Testing Program, and closely monitored district tracking and timelines, including due process paperwork. As well, she was liaison to regular education teachers. With such experience in this field, Mrs. Butcher was a trainer for P-12 Special Educators and facilitated programs in that department.

Furthermore, Mrs. Butcher began her journey with University of the Cumberlands in May of 2012 and is there currently. She focuses primarily upon her positions as an Assistant Professor of Special Education, Dual Credit Liaison, and Director of Undergraduate Student Teaching. Moreover, for the past three years, Mrs. Butcher has been involved in the Kentucky Teacher Intern Program as a Teacher Educator and was just recently part of a literacy review committee for EPSB. Mrs. Butcher is currently working towards her Doctorate.
